Petro-Canada was founded in 1975 as an exploration and development company in Canada itself, as well as to create and manufacture high quality petroleum products that would give the country a leading position in the oil and gas market.

The company is intensively developing and expanding its activities. In the early 1980s, it not only discovers a number of the largest fields in Western Canada, but also acquires several large oil refineries, including from the British company BP-Canada in 1983.

In 1984, the Government of Canada changes the concept of operations and transfers all activities of the company to a commercial basis, and in 1991 it privatizes Petro-Canada and begins to sell its shares on the market.

Expansion and commercialization present tremendous opportunities for the company, and in 1994 it begins development of its first field outside Canada - in Algeria, and in 1996 it modernizes its lubricants plant, doubling its production. Now, in terms of production volume, this plant is one of the ten largest lubricant factories.

Since 2002, the plant's products have been certified according to the international standard ISO / TS 16949, in connection with which Petro-Canada begins supplying its products to car assembly plants around the world.

Today, Petro-Canada has the most powerful production and distribution infrastructure, which uses the latest technology and equipment.

The company produces lubricants adapted to work in the harsh climatic conditions of Canada, which are extremely similar to those of Ukraine.
