NOK is a Japanese company and brand of rubber seals and oil seals for cars. The company was founded in 1939 and was originally called Japan Bearing Production Co., Ltd. In 1951, the company merged with Nippon Yushu Industry Co., Ltd. and received a new name - Nippon Oil Seal Industry Co., Ltd. In 1960, the company opened a new plant in Fujisawa, and in 1963, another in Nakabaru-Cho. In 1964, the management of the company opens the first subsidiary in Asia - Nippon Sealol Co. (now known as Eagle Industry Co.). In 1967, the company increased its production capacity again with a new plant in the city of Sagaro-Cho. In 1968, the first subsidiary in the United States, NOK-USA Ink, was established. (now known as NOK Inc.). From 1969 to 1976, Nippon Oil Seal Industry Co. opens 4 more subsidiaries and 2 new factories. In 1985 the company was renamed NOK Corporation. During the period from 1986 to 1989, the corporation significantly increased its production capacity due to 5 new Asian branches and a plant in the city of Nihonmatsu. In the 1990s, NOK Co. opened 7 subsidiaries in Asia, and in the first decade of the XXI - 8 more. Now NOK Corporation is the largest and most famous Japanese manufacturer of oil seals and gaskets in the world. The company has 22 large representative offices in Asia and one office each in Germany and the USA. The management of the corporation adheres to the concepts of CSR (corporate social responsibility) and pursues an active environmental policy.
