Hella, founded in 1899 by Sally Windmuller in Germany, is a recognized leader in the automotive components sector. From its inception, the company has focused on creating lighting systems for vehicles, including headlights, tail lights, and other types of interior lighting.
Hella gained popularity thanks to its innovative solutions in the field of automotive lighting. It made a significant contribution to the industry, from the launch of acetylene headlights in 1908 to the first fully LED headlights on the Cadillac Escalade Platinum in 2008. Additionally, Hella was the first to develop a front camera for monitoring road signs in 2007, demonstrating its innovative approaches.
As the business evolved, Hella's interests expanded beyond just lighting systems. The company established several joint ventures with other manufacturers, such as Hella/Behr, Hella Guttmann, and Hella Pagid. Currently, Hella is part of the Forvia group, formerly known as Faurecia, which is part of the PSA group and Stellantis.
Today, Hella has become one of the leading companies in the world for selling automotive parts and accessories. They supply the aftermarket and auto services with a wide range of products in the areas of lighting, electrical, electronics, and thermal regulation. The range also includes many other products, including parts for timing systems, ignition, fuel pumps, generators, EGR valves, sensors, relays, thermostats, and much more.
