The Motul trademark appeared in 1853 and belonged to the American oil company Swan Finch, which produced oils for steam locomotives and steamers. In 1932, the Americans began exporting oils to Europe, and in 1953 they opened a plant in France. Motul quickly gained popularity due to the quality of the oils produced and in the early 60s became one of the leaders in the production of lubricants for leading engine manufacturers. In the early 70s, Motul relocates its headquarters to Oberville, near Paris. In 1971, the company released the world's first fully synthetic oil, the Motul Century 300V. It did not contain petroleum products - the base was ethereal. In 1972, Motul introduced the world's first synthetic 2-stroke oil, the Motul Century 300 2T, and in 1983 released the world's first turbocharged oil, the Motul Turboil. Today the Motul company is the leader in the production of lubricants. The company is recognized in the sports environment: auto racing and motorcycle racing, and has also gained wide recognition in the water motor racing environment. Motul is currently the technical partner of the Yamaha and Suzuki teams in the MotoGP and Superbike World Championships.
